Face lifting procedure is nearly 2 – 2,5 hours.
With the effects of sun exposure, gravity and aging over time, our tense, energetic and healthy skin turns into an old, tired and wrinkled appearance. Sagging is seen in soft tissues due to gravity due to decreasing subcutaneous and muscle tissue with age. The sagging of the face and neck skin can be removed by face lift surgery; If there is fat under the chin can be eliminated. With the operation, the person gets a younger and lively appearance, but the aging process continues.
It is usually applied to men and women over 40 years of age. It can be applied alone or combined with eye aesthetics, nose aesthetics, forehead or eyebrow lifting operations. In the same session, fat or tissue injection and lipomatic applications can be performed under the chin.
It is recommended that this operation be performed in the operating room under hospital conditions, under the supervision of the anesthesiologist. Normally it takes 2-2.5 hours, but if combined with other procedures, the operation time can be extended to 4-7 hours according to the procedures to be performed. It is possible to go home on the same day only if a face lift operation has been performed. If additional interventions are needed, one day follow-up in the hospital is recommended. After face lift surgery, there may be no visible marks. The scars are hidden in the scalp in the temple area, in front of and behind the ears. If it is removed from the fat under the jaw, a trace of 3-5 mm may remain under the jaw, but these marks are usually unclear and concealable.
The postoperative period is usually comfortable. After the operation, there may be complaints such as pain in the face, tension, swelling, bruising and numbness on the skin surface. During the operation, facial nerves may be slightly affected by anesthesia and slight asymmetries may develop on the face. They spontaneously pass within 3-5 days. There may be some numbness in the facial skin, which improves a few days or weeks. Lightly pressed head wrap is applied, leaving eyes, nose and mouth open. In rare cases, a drain can be placed to prevent blood accumulation under the skin. The dressing opens after 2 days. General inspection and dressing change is made. The hair is washed and, if necessary, the dressing is re-placed. Stitches are taken after 5-7 days. It is recommended to avoid heavy exercises and excessive sunlight for 2 months and to protect against external impacts. After 10-15 days, the patient may return to work and social activities
The drain is removed the day after surgery, the loose dressing is replaced with elastic bandage and the patient is asked to use it for several days. Incisions should be kept moist with ointment for 10 days. Antibiotic treatment should be completed to 5 days. In case of normal invisible redness, pus, pain, urgent contact with your doctor is recommended. Sutures are usually taken in 4-7 days. The patient should not move for more than two weeks and not go out in the sun for more than six weeks. Two weeks later, make-up is allowed, and the patient is sufficiently healed to return to work. Regular checks are continued until the patient is completely recovered.
